Holistic Health Care
Holistic Health Care
consists of the prevention, treatment and management of illness or
disease and the preservation, maintenance or restoration of mental,
physical and spiritual health through holistic methods. It attemtps to
bring harmony to the physical, nutritional, environmental,
psychological/ emotional and spiritual aspects of the individuals life
and encourage healing and wholeness.
There are two very big
differences between traditional health care and holistic health care.
The first is that in traditional health care attention is aimed on
treating symptoms with drugs and or surgery. In the holistic
model, the focus is on finding the underlying cause of the symptoms and
making life style changes that are conducive to health.
The second is that in holistic health care there is a strong emphasis
on personal responsibility. The patient is an active participant
in their health care plan. The relationship between the patient
and the health care provider is cooperative and complimentary.
They work as a team. The patient is the authority on their body
and becomes an expert in self-care

alternative and holistic. Alternative health care meaning it is
opposite of what is standard, traditional or conventional and
holistic health care meaning they address the body, mind and spirit and
embrace the
holistic health philosophy.
