Colloidal Silver and Candida

This week I received the following questions from Donna about colloidal silver and a variety of other Candidiasis issues. Below that, you’ll see my response.

“I started feeling better after 2mths of the diet and 12 pills per day 6 candida and 6 anti fungal along with probiotics after every meal and my natural Dr. pres. gel like vaginal supp. for recurring yeast infections, I also take 2 multi vit after each meal. Well lucky me, it’s all back and full force, including painful intercourse and I’m soon to be married and this is affecting my everywhere, incl. fibro. I stopped by at the health food store today and the lady sold me ionic silver, she told me another person used it and it worked, so I started today and apparently it’s a different process instead of starving the beast-you simply suffocate it. My other most important problem is infertility-which is found to be related to the yeast overgrowth and nothing else. What are your thoughts on the silver?
P.S. I only use Agave for my sweetener and only eat organics. Thanks for your time. Donna”

Hi Donna,

Colloidal silver is a popular choice for many people in their arsenal against Candida. Yes, it is believed to work not by attacking the pathogen, but rather deactivating enzymes that are responsible for the metabolism of the organism.

I would be careful with the ionic silver. In my opinion it should only be used for short term purposes, however there are many people who would disagree with me. It is believed by proponents that the silver will not build up in your body, however many people with Candidiasis have difficulty excreting and detoxing as a healthy body would, so I always lean towards the side of caution. I just don’t feel comfortable ingesting a metal for a long period of time. However, I would use it intermittently with other products.

A condition know as Argyria, a permanent discoloration of the skin – blue-gray, has occurred in people who ingest too much for too long. Although this is extremely rare.

There’s a lot of controversy even in the health field about the use of silver. Some people swear by it’s healing properties, while others think it holds too many risks. Not only that you can find a lot of contradictory information that really leaves your head whirling with confusion. So it’s really just a judgment call in deciding to use it.

You should also do your research and make sure your using a reputable product. A lot of people out there put out silver products that are about useless. It should be called colloidal silver and not ionic silver.

Ionic silver consists of silver ions and not silver particles. In a silver product it is the nanoparticles that bring about results. You want to make sure you have a product that has an adequate level of nanoparticles.

A high quality colloidal silver product will not look like water. It will be a slightly darker liquid, but it shouldn’t be too dark. If it looks like water then it doesn’t have a high concentration of nanoparticles. I recommend Silver Biotics.

Some people like Dr. Hulda Clark believe that the purest and most effective colloidal silver is one that you make yourself with a colloidal silver generator. To learn more about this I recommend reading some of her books like “The Cure for All Diseases.”

Many people find colloidal silver to be very effective against not only Candidiasis, but viruses and bacteria as well. It is touted to relieve everything from acne to yeast infections, from boils to strep throat and believed to be effective against over 650 organisms.

I’m sorry I can’t give you a personal opinion on whether it’s effective or not, because I haven’t been able to take the product. When I’ve tried taking even 1/16 of a teaspoon it gives me a migraine within 20 minutes. I’m not sure if that is a result of die off or a reaction to the silver itself. Some clients have reported to me that it is effective.

Yes, Candida can contribute to infertility because it has a profound impact on hormones, ovaries and the entire reproductive system. Many gynecological problems are a result of yeast overgrowth.

From what you tell me it in your email, it sounds like something happened that caused such a severe flare in symptoms. If you were taking all those products and following the diet it shouldn’t have came back in full force, unless you had stopped following the diet or taking the antifungals. Or perhaps you took an antibiotic or some other prescription drug that set it off.

It’s also possible that the stress of preparing for your wedding is contributing to your flare. Although this is a happy event, it is a major life change accompanied by high levels of stress. High levels of stress release sugar in the bloodstream and this feeds the Candida. It also weakens the immune system and allows yeast to flourish more.

It’s great that you are eating organic. Although agave is a better choice than table sugar, it will still provide a hefty feast for Candida. Additionally, agave will also impact the endocrine system and the brain in the same manner as sugar, which means it  will still contribute to neurotransmitter imbalances, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, sugar addiction, compulsive overeating etc. If one indulges in agave, it should be on an infrequent basis.

Additionally, carbohydrates in any form should be limited, because all carbohydrates break down into sugar. Colloidal silver or any other antifungal will not be effective if you ingest high levels of carbohydrates on a daily basis.

For more detailed information on what’s needed for Candida control, you may want to take a look at my book Candida Secrets, or if you need more personal advice, you may want to set up a phone consultation with me.

The important thing to keep in mind is that keeping Candida under control requires a long term and comprehensive approach. It will flare again if you let your guard down.

Best of luck to you.
Cynthia

  1. Hi efigenio,

That’s a great topic. I will put together a new post about and let you know when I have it ready to read.

Do you have anything more specific you’d like me to include in regard to HIV/AIDS and Candida?

  2. Hi efigenio,

I’ve made a new blog post on HIV/AIDS. You can find it at the top of the homepage or in the recent posts in the sidebar.

  3. Hi Cynthia, I’m very curious about colloidal silver. In your book I read that it can be effective for breaking up biofilms, and it’s also listed in the chapter about antifungals. Do you know if candida can become resistant to it? I’ve been reading a lot on the internet saying that it can’t, but I’m not convinced. Is it something that should be taken continuously when using it as both a biofilm destroyer and an antifungal?

      Hi Jen,

Candida can become resistant to anything. This is also discussed in great detail in the book. Anybody who says Candida can’t become resistant to something, is not educated enough. Nothing should be taken continuously. Body needs a break sometimes. And all antifungals need rotated to prevent mutation and resistance, which is also discussed in the antifungal chapter of the book.

  4. Do you know anything about Candida Krusei? I have been dealing with it for 25 years and more aggressively in the last few years. My functional med doc had me take all kinds of things and I have been eating no grains and only a small amount of berries or small amount of Granny Smith apples for years. I’ve been eating either very low carb or keto for years. Saccharomyces Boulardii helps. Natto helps. I’m thinking about trying Silver (I have Meso Silver) but need to research a little more. I do have mercury fillings I need to get rid of but heavy metal testing showed very low levels.
